Where the Wild Things Grow (D.Dagenais)
The vines twine the pipes they cleave the hydrant
The ground is broken here tonight
so watch your step (watch your step)
Are you sure you wanna go
so deep behind the high fence
Wading in the heat drowning in the stench
There’s no daisies in her garden no daffodil, no rose
But there are poppies and lilies that are lying
Sleeping where the wild things grow
She had a lover once he’s buried in the back row
She planted him beneath the stump
of a burned out oak
And if you look around you find
all his rags and bones
His scarlet cloth, his copper coin, his ivory comb
See that gate it’s made of iron
and twisted in the under growth
See the rusty locks that keep in
all the things she never wrote
