I don’t look like Harrison Ford
I’ve never owned a pistol or a whip
I haven’t spent much time
Running for my life
But I have spent weeks down in a pit

It’s not Hollywood and it’s not glamorous
We don’t get Oscars or sidewalk stars for this
The rewards come in sherds a million little bits
But it’s all still treasure if you dig it.

I’ve never own a single hat that looked liked that
I’ve never met a Nazi villain
I spend my days cataloguing crap
And writing papers about ruins

It’s more academic than action oriented
But you don’t get shot at and no one really wants you dead

Indiana can save the planet
While I record the artifacts
Between the layers and the granite
Then back fill the holes
To save them for tomorrow

I spend time washing bits of pottery
Then carefully pack them in a box
