Grandpa kept a jar of dimes
he said he'd find them everywhere
and a penny saved is a penny earned
the day that Grandpa passed away
my grandmother gave me that mason jar
of lessons learned
and I when to the store
and traded them for candy
and I walked home feeling sad
I wished I'd never even opened up the bottle
of the dimes of my Granddad
I put the bottle on the shelf
meant to fill it up myself
and I've thought of it so many times
when I'm broke and feeling down
defeated kicked around
it always seems I'm finding dimes
In the most unlikeliest of places
inside shoes and cups I find
it seems just like his hand is on my shoulder
whenever I am finding dimes
I keep the dimes all in a mason
on a shelf down in the basement
sometimes when it's overcast
I take them down and count them out
silver circles all around
each more precious than the last
and I spend memories like dimes in the candy store
until the sun begins to shine
I have never really ever been alone while
I’ve been finding dimes
and I spend memories like dimes in the candy store
until the sun begins to shine
I have never really ever been alone while
I’ve been finding dimes
Grandpa kept a jar of dimes
he said he'd find them everywhere
and a penny saved is a penny earned
