Maggies Grandpa owned a cart with looking glass sides a black horse he used to pull but never would ride he's say some things are sacrosanct and set in stone you have a little time here you can rent but never own The black cart and the band round his arm were silent as they moved through the town a ripple on an obsidian pond it's still moving now that Grandpa's gone Maggies dad didn't want to own the charade of keeping up appearance but bills had to be paid and things got easier when the gasoline came and spoke wheels were traded for sidewalls and Maggie took over the phone calls Maggies hearse saw days go from bad to worse carrying soldiers to pastures on the outskirts of our town we'd watch her roll through the red lights funeral flags on her fenders life isn't yours it's just a lender Her black cars and her driving gloves good head for business but no time for love the sign says McPherson and Sons but she never married so there never was one Maggie's hearse saw days come and days pass it rotted her frame and it shattered her glass in the salt and the rain even misery don't last like youth spent you never get back The black car and the band round my arm Maggie's hearse in the weeds in the lawn any fear I ever had of her is gone she's rusting away as Maggie moves on Maggies Grandpa owned a cart with looking glass sides a black horse he used to pull but never would ride he's say some things are sacrosanct and set in stone you have a little time here you can rent but never own you have a little time here...

13 Roses 03:16
He gave her 13 blood red roses and he left her staring blind He gave her 13 blood red roses and a box of yellow pine oh he loved her the best he was able for a monster that's a lot oh he loved her the best he was able thought he could save her he could not He used to watch her from a distance as she gardened in the yard she looked so kind and he thought she'd listen the night he took her, she would not oh he loved her the best he was able for she was fragile he was strong oh he loved her the best he was able thought she'd love him he was wrong He gave her 13 blood red roses and he left her staring blind He gave her 13 blood red roses and a box of yellow pine he's alone now and he's so lonely but he's only killing time he's been watching a woman hanging out her laundry on the line oh he loves her the best he is able from a distance in disquise oh he loves her the best he is able maybe he'll save her this time or give her 13 blood red roses and leave her staring blind He'll give her 13 blood red roses and a box of yellow pine oh but he loves her the best he is able for a monster that's a lot oh but he loves her the best he's able maybe he'll save her but probably not 13 roses and a box

The Void 02:54
If there's a great beyond, well I don't know where we end up where we go is there a heaven up above a fire down below is there anything at all after the curtain call For Shakespear life's a play an Ahab chased the whale until the whale took him away to a watery grave benieth the ocean waves did it make him whole again? or did he fade away no one knows what happened to Poe the days before he died found on the streets of Baltimore with madness in his eyes wearing some strangers clothes mind broke like a toy maybe he just lost his way staring at the Void if there's a God well I can't see if He's real or just the mystery of how we put together faces out of weather like Jesus in a stain maybe we're all insane No one knows what happened to Poe the days they couldn't find him maybe he was following a love he'd left behind him pareidolia pictures from a girl who life destroyed maybe he just lost his way staring at the Void

Eating Ashes 02:24
Look at me I've been eating ashes they taste so sweet like cinnamon and on my tongue they leave sugar dashes everything I thought but never did and white stains where I have lain once the boatman has been paid there's never any going back a one way trip on the River Styx and I've been eating ash Look at me I've been biting dust it tastes so sharp of memories and on my lips it leaves a bitter kiss of everything they meant to me an red dust just like rust hollows out a hole in us of time we won't get back broken glass a one way pass and I'll be eating ash there's no time to change your mind you pay the rivers fine a copper coin or a silver flash you can't get back from the river black so you travel eating ash Look at me I've been eating ashes they taste so sweet like cinnamon

As I was walking the dark street of London in a fog I wandered alone I heard a rattle that came up behind me and froze my flesh to the bone there came a wagon with two black horses and one lonely drive atop and "Bring out your dead" was all that he said and rattled away in the dark there was a black band on his sleeve a sure symbol of grief and "Bring out your dead" was all that he said but there haven't been wagons in centuries As I was standing my mouth hung open wondering if I'd gone spare he stopped the wagon a few yards afore me and turned to look back with a stare his eyes were empty as two deep canyons and black as the pit of the night and "Bring out your dead" was all that he said and I found my feet and took flight he had a black cap and a whip I prayed that I wouldn't slip I could hear the wheel it was right on my heel but I never looked back at it Now if you go out walking on the streets of London after the lights are all out if you hear a rattle then just start a-runnin' unless you have dead to bring out there was a black band on his sleeve a sure symbol of grief and "Bring out your dead" was all that he said but there haven't been wagons in centuries

Friday 13th 03:10
It's early in the morning she's up on her feet it's Friday the 13th but she doesn't believe she's not superstitious she doesn't need anyones prayers she washes her face in a mirror that's cracked she closes the door and doesn't look back she's been shattered before like the medicine chest time doesn't heal like the drugs it holds that's just something we say something we're told it's early in the morning she's headed out she steps on the cracks she won't go around the ladders that climb up the sides of her town she passes through it's not like you expect the worst the universe is listening and as the ladder crashes a man advances and catches her before she falls and for a moment they sway together she hears him say "this could be a lucky day" it's early in the morning he's up on his feet she kisses him then she watches him leave she's not superstitious she doesn't believe in love at first sight that might be alright for the young and naive but she doesn't need Friday 13th Friday 13th

Dark Carnival Life is a dark carnival Rusted games and broken lights Love is the path through it Broken glass and torn tights We are, we were, we’ll be again Broken down to dust and sand It ends and it begins again We turn around Like painted clowns In a dark carnival Love is a fleeting moment A dizzy midway right And pain is The price we pay for being thrown so high We are, we were, we’ll be again Tossed aloft to fall back when We reach the apex and descend We all fall down Like painted clowns In the dark carnival Life is a sudden spotlight That pins us to the ground Death is the slow fade out To the darkness all around We are, we were, we’ll be again Blinded by the lights of men We fly and we descend Back to the ground We fall down To the dark carnival Dark carnival
