A watercooler conversation
A bitter coffee meditation
on the ways that we sell ourselves cheap
on the 44 hours left in this week
A paper clip parley
A stapled down soliloquy
of the things to which we find we're adverse
it's only Monday hey hey
things could get worse
things could get worse
collating a concept
elaborating on the next steps
of a method to get ourselves free
of the 5 wicked days of this working week
A critical cardboard cut
A hand slammed as the door swings shut
tied to the tracks with the strings of a purse
it's only Monday hey hey
things could get worse
things could get worse
Someday I'm gonna just tell them all to shove it
right now I nod and smile, pretend that I love it
this Hell where I find I'm immersed
it's only Monday hey hey
things could get worse
things could get worse
things could get worse
things could get worse

Blue Tuesday
03:06
|

Blue Tuesday
another early shift
Blue Tuesday
the coffee tastes like shit
pour myself another cup
though it's bitter to the very last drop
Blue Tuesday, Blue Tuesday
Blue Tuesday
the afternoon just drags
Blue Tuesday
my last nerve's in rags
suck it up, get on with things
the papers pile and the phone just rings
Blue Tuesday, Blue Tuesday
Somewhere there's a beach
with my name written on the sand
and it I get vacation time
I'll go there if I can
Blue Tuesday
and everythings gone wrong
Blue Tuesday
this damn week is so long
I pour myself another drink
so I don't even have to think
Blue Tuesday Blue Tuesday
Blue Tuesday
Blue

Wednesdays Child
02:54
|
|||
Another Wednesday another middle of the week
not the beginning or the end but inbetween
it's too late to start something new right now
and it's too early to see how this plays out
Wednesdays Child is full of woe
lets just see where this things goes
cause it's too late but too soon to know
another Wednesday plateau
Another stop in the forward momentum
of all the plans and all the intentions
the road they pave is golden and long
but it leads back to Hell if we're wrong
Wednesdays Child is full of woe
lets just see where this things goes
cause it's too late but too soon to know
another Wednesday plateau
And you can try to get a running start
but in the middle is the hardest part
but it's not the beginning or the end
that makes you want to try again
Wednesdays Child is full of woe
lets just see where this things goes
cause it's too late but too soon to know
another Wednesday plateau
Wednesdays Child is full of woe
lets just see where this things goes
cause it's too late but too soon to know
another Wednesday plateau

Thirsty Thursday
02:49
|
|||
Thirsty Thursday
I'm just waiting for tommorow
gotta get myself relieved
if I gotta beg steal or borrow
I know it's not the end of the week
but I'm so damn dry
I can't even speak
Thirsty Thursday
Thirsty Thursday
I'm just waiting for the weekend
but the sun out on the sidewalk
is cooking eggs and bacon
I know that I should wait it out
but I'm so damn dry
I got a desert in my mouth
Thirsty Thursday
Serve me up a bottle of beer
cause I'm so damn dry
and it's hot as hell in here
feel like an old dead leaf
hear that poppin' top
that sweet relief
Thirsty Thursday
Thirsty Thursday
and early Friday morning
snuck up on me
with very little warning
but i'll get through this working day
with some Asprin
and a shot of Chardonnay
Serve me up a bottle of beer
cause I'm so damn dry
and it's hot as hell in here
feel like an old dead leaf
hear that poppin' top
that sweet relief
Thirsty Thursday

For Friday Night
04:26
|
|||
Friday night
meet me there
that little place
where we use to share
a glass or two
in a corner booth
for Friday night
let me belong to you
for one last toast
for one last night
until you're hers again
instead of mine
Friday night
take me home
it's been a long long week
and I've been alone
we can talk awhile
maybe drink some wine
for Friday night
you can be mine
for one last dance
for one last kiss
until you're hers again
and I miss you
Friday night
walk away
don't speak to me
it's better off this way
if we said "hello"
we'd have to say "goodbye"
and I'd miss you more
next Friday night
one last look
one last time
cause you're hers again
and I miss you

Lazy Saturday
02:33
|
|||
I can play you a tune if it isn't too hard
We could go for a walk if it isn't too far
I could read you a book if it isn't too thick
We could go to a film but you'd have to pick
It's Saturday and I'm gonna have my
gonna have my way
lay in a hammock
down by the bay
Lazy lazy lazy Saturday
We could have a good meal but you'd have to cook
we could take a long nap the phone off the hook
we could take off our shoes put our toes in the sand
we could blow it all off, all of the plans
It's Saturday and I'm gonna have my
gonna have my way
lay in a hammock
down by the bay
Lazy lazy lazy Saturday
I got a hammock meant for 2
I've got some ice a couple brew
there's nothing else we need to do
We could have a good talk if I don't have to think
we could lay in the sun until we turn pink
then find us some shade and nave a nice sleep
then go for a swim if it isn't too deep
It's Saturday and I'm gonna have my
gonna have my way
lay in a hammock
down by the bay
Lazy lazy lazy Saturday

Sunday Drive
02:14
|
|||
I took a Sunday drive
all my friends and I
followed you out
to the ocean side
Black ducks in a row
like the washline clothes
one by one we fell behind
a man i didn't recognize
said some words that made us cry
though he was coldly intellectual
then the rain began to fall
a foggy curtain call
umbrellas ineffectual
I took a Sunday ride
out with the tide
flowing out on crests of white
ashes in the sky
mixed with the salt and brine
one by one
we said goodbye
I remembering your face
even time cannot erase
though it's black and white
and faded brown
as you floated out of reach
I heard the preacher preach
that kindred souls are never drowned
I took a Sunday drive
all your friends and I
in onxy cars that seemed to glide
like dashes in a line
that make a clear divide
one by one
we left behind
flowers on the oceans waves
slipping silently away
like the last notes of a song
blue and peridot bouquets
colours never fade
in memory you're never gone
